Mark chose to demonstrate the dish shown

The chuck spigot was turned into the back and Mark used a Makita right angled drill to give the bowl a finish
reversing the bowl in the chuck
Mark then proceeded to work on the front of the bowl

Mark having introduced to the right angled drill, then we were shown the Proxon Long necked angle grinder with a mini carving blade fitted
Understained in black
applying an under stain in black prior to adding a purple stain on top
then turning out the centre
to clear away the stain
resulting in a decorative finsih
ready for display in next years show

Spalted Walnut
Mark had some green turned walnut that had spalted, however the piece had issues when it came to cutting it, and the item had to stop as it wasn't safe to turn

Mark moved on to produce a small laburnum vase as the walnut bowl didn't work

This proved to be an exercise in speed turning owing to limited time left at the end of the day
