A quick lesson.
Gary kicked off by showing us the basic methods of turning coves and beads on a piece of pine using a round profile skew chisel.

He then started with a small novelty toy, the red part is a piece of elastic band and the shaft fits inside and catches on the band - or does it?

Potty with a lid !
Gary copied the shape of a potty to create this very impressive little box from Paduk
Corian inlay
The lid incorporated a small piece of Corian and the whole box was friction polished and buffed with carnauba wax.
Pocket watch/medal stand
Gary then turned a pocket watch stand.

Then a picture frame.

Spinning top
He went on to turn a spinning top using corian as the body Ebony as the twiddle bit and part of a plastic knitting needle for the point.

Still working at full speed he turned this Christmas tree decoration.

Then a pear, finished with friction polish and a carnauba wax mop,

As if he had not turned enough he made a spinning top that when spun eventually turned upside down.
