Turning the cylinder
Les started by turning the blank to round and parting off a section that would become the base insert.

Hollowing out with a bowl gouge, the pencil was an aid to showing us the angle of presentation.

Les then went on to turn a very nice bowl.

The outside was given a texture to look like beads.
Candle stick
The final demonstration was a rather nice candle stick which was stained to look like mahogany.
