June Club night 2023 Gallery

Peter Johnson demonstration.
Well done Peter for stepping in at the last minute and showing members how to turn a candle stick and base.
Making a start
Peter started by turning the top section of the candle stick.
Shaping up.
He continued turning and sanding to his usual standard of finish.
The base.
Peter mounted the blank and continued to turn the base.
The base continued.
The base was then turned to a nice finish.
Married.
The two parts where then joined together and finished.
All done.
The completed candle stick, well done Peter a great job once again, ( and no time to practise beforehand ).
Example 1.
Peter brought along some other items that he previously made.
Example 2.

Stephen Long's demonstration
Our other demonstrator was Stephen who showed members his method of turning napkin rings.
Drilling out .
Stephen turned the blank to the round and continued to drill out the centre turning the lathe speed right down and proceeding very slowly.
The outside.
Shaping the outside to a concaved finish.
A jam chuck.
Stephen made a jam chuck to allow the ring to be reverse mounted and finished.
Some examples
the completed ring along with some others he made before.
Example 2.
This ring was enhanced with two burnt lines completed using the wire method.
A good turnout.
Stephen drew a lot of members so we are expecting a large amount of entries in the annual show competitions !!
Timber sales.
Plenty of wood for sale tonight and Aziz's was also in attendance with his African hard woods.
Halo ?
Plenty of prizes on the table ! Not sure about Rogers Halo but he is a Angel for running the draw - with a little help !.
